Have you heard about this year’s theatre productions? For the fall play, we’ll produce the comedy “Almost, Maine” – and our spring musical will be “The Wizard of Oz.” We also have a very active theatre club and honor society for theatre involvement. If you have an interest in working behind the scenes, or performing in either of these shows – we hope that you and your parents will plan to attend our informational Theatre Kick-Off meeting on Wednesday, August 28th at 6:30 pm. Attention students interested in traveling to Spain in June of 2020. There will be an organizational meeting for students and parents on Wednesday, September 4 at 6PM in room 511 in the relocatable classrooms. Congratulations to the quiz bowl team of senior Chad Hoglund, juniors Connor Mayers and Shane Mosley, and sophomores Claire DeVinney and Gabe McGough, who placed 49th at this past weekend’s national High School National Championship tournament in Atlanta, Georgia. The field featured 336 teams from all over the country and globe, with Penn Manor’s team securing a place in the top fifty in just their second year of competing. The team went 6-4 in preliminary matches to make the single elimination playoff rounds, and then won two games to stay alive and secure a great finish. Additionally, captain Connor was recognized for being the 16th highest scorer out of over 1600 individuals. Please congratulate the team and wish them luck as they prepare for the National Scholastic Championship in two weeks time!

As you observe the coastal nesting ground of green sea turtles, float down twisting and turning canals, scan the rainforest canopy for endangered species and relax in a geothermal hot spring, you’ll understand why scientists and educators from around the world come to study Costa Rica’s rich ecosystems. Come learn about our trip for June, 2020. Meeting in room 502, at 6PM Thursday!

Financial Literacy fans – What percentage of Americans have less than $400 in an emergency fund?
Attention Seniors: All obligations must be satisfied before April 26 or you will lose your senior privileges. Obligations could include: Detention hours, graduation projects and financial obligations for library, computers, class fees, or a negative balance for the cafeteria. Students who owe any obligation will not be permitted to attend prom, senior activities, or report to school late during Keystone Exams. Students who owe an obligation will not receive their high school diploma in June. See Mr. Eby with any questions. Remember to take care of all of your obligations as soon as possible.

EDSI is working in partnership with PA CareerLink Lancaster County and the Lancaster County Workforce Development Board to offer paid work opportunities to individuals 16-24 years old. This year, Millersville Lioness Club would like to help every girl fulfill her dream of attending the prom. Through donations of new and gently used formal dresses and accessories, we are able to “Turn Dresses into Dreams” free of charge for Penn Manor students. At this special one-day event, we are inviting Penn Manor High School girls to select one dress that they can take home FOR FREE for the purpose of wearing it to the prom. Our goal is to make young girls prom dreams come true (every girl deserves to feel like Cinderella.) Dresses and accessories are all donated and will be available on a first come first serve basis. We cannot guarantee every girl will receive a dress. This event is being held on Saturday March 30th from 10am to 1pm at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millersville. Doors to the event will close at 1:00 P.M.
