πŸ“‹ Penn Manor High School Attendance

πŸ’‘ Core Philosophy: Student success is directly dependent upon regular school attendance.

⏰ The School Day Timeline

  • 7:40 a.m. – Block 1 Begins: Students must be in class daily for attendance.
  • 7:45 a.m. – Tardy Cutoff: Students arriving after this time must report to the attendance officer for an admit slip before going to class.
  • 1:11 p.m. – Full-Day Absence Cutoff: Students arriving after this time are marked absent for the full day.
  • 2:45 p.m. – Dismissal: Block 4 ends.

πŸ“ Rules for Absences & Notes

Returning from an Absence

  • Handing in Notes: Notes can be submitted–including date and reason–one of three ways:
    • Completing form on Sapphire Parent Portal
    • Emailing attendance@pennmanor.net
    • Delivering excuse note to the attendance office
  • The Three-Day Window: Excuses must be submitted within three (3) days or the absence is recorded as unexcused. If a parent/guardian fails to submit it, it becomes unlawful.
  • Missed Work: Students are entirely responsible for making up any work missed.

Special Circumstances

  • Excessive Absences (10+): Students may be required to provide an official doctor’s note for all future absences.
  • Pre-Planned Trips: A Pre-Planned Trip Form must be submitted via Sapphire five (5) days prior to the trip for approval.

πŸ† What Defines “Perfect Attendance”?

To achieve perfect attendance, a student must have zero instances of the following:

  • ❌ Absences
  • ❌ Tardies
  • ❌ Early Dismissals
  • ❌ Pre-Planned Trips
  • ❌ Being sent home ill by the Nurse
