All Penn Manor High School students and parents/guardians are invited to attend this year’s Course Selection Night. Course Selection Night is an opportunity for students and parents/guardians to hear a presentation on the Course Selection process and to meet with members of core and elective departments to ask questions and gain an understanding of course offerings.  This evening is extremely beneficial for incoming freshmen and new students.  

Incoming freshmen and new students should plan on attending a short presentation in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Following the presentation, students entering grades 9-12 and their parents/guardians will have the chance to tour the new high school building to meet with faculty members at the following locations:

PROGRAMS TO CONSIDER AS YOU ARE COMPLETING YOUR 4 YEAR PLAN:

AG COMPLETER PROGRAM:

In order to be considered as an Agriculture (Ag) Completer, a student must plan to complete 11 credits of Agriculture Classes in grades 9 through 12 within the defined scope and sequence of their selected major.  

English – 4 credits

Social Studies – 3 credits

Science – 3 credits (outside of ag major scope and sequence)

Math – 3 credits 

Physical Education/Health – 1 credit

Physical Education – 1 credit

Graduation Project requirement

Agriculture courses that count as science credits: Biotechnology and Food Science, Vet Science 1, and Vet Science 2. 

GLOBAL SCHOLARS PROGRAM:

The Global Scholars program is an honors designation and credential that recognizes students who demonstrate an interest in global realities. In addition to the courses listed below, students must complete 20 hours of community service, participate in 4 extra-curricular activities or events, and complete 8 book/media reviews.  All activities must have a global, international, and/or cross-cultural focus.  Students’ progress toward the Global Scholars credential is documented in an online portfolio

  • World Language – 4 levels of the same language (grades 9-12) with a B or better.
  • Globally-oriented courses (4 additional credits) listed below with a B or better:
    • Social Studies:  Eastern/Western World History, AP Art History, AP World History, AP & Honors Economics, AP Comparative Government
    • World Language: A second world language and/or AP world language courses
    • Business: International Business and Investing & Honors International Business
    • English: British Literature, World Literature, AP Literature
    • Music:  Band, Orchestra, or Chorus / Manor Singers
    • Art: AP Art

HONORS PROGRAM:

To graduate with an Honors designation on a student’s diploma, a student must earn the following:

  • Five Honors Courses with a minimum grade of B or better in grades 10-12.
  • Four Advanced Placement credits with a minimum grade of B or better in each.  Upon recommendation, students may take AP United States History in 9th grade. 
  • Three levels of the same World Language in grades 9-12 with a grade of B or better in each. World Language courses taken in grade 9 count toward specific credit totals needed to graduate with Honors.
  • All required core courses must be College Prep level or higher.
  • Core courses are defined as English, Math, Social Studies, and Science.
  • Students must maintain an overall cumulative GPA of 3.75.

MU BUSINESS PROGRAM:

Millersville University and Penn Manor High School are excited to offer a pilot Early Enrollment program and are seeking interested students who have met the requirements. Interested students who meet the requirements will form a cohort group and take one course per semester during their 11th and 12th-grade years. For the 25-26 school year, students shall have successfully completed at least four (4) of the following courses before being invited to enroll in the MUBC. 

Accounting 1, Accounting 2, Marketing & Advertising, Entrepreneurship, International Business and Investing (Honors and CP), Product Design, CS: Creating and Making (honors and CP), CS: Communicating and Connecting (Honors and CP), AP CS Principles, Honors Engineering Principles, Service Learning for the School Store (only for seniors in the program, pre-req Accounting), Exploring Technology, Agribusiness and Leadership, Music Technology: Creating and Producing, Introduction to Web Development (virtual), Intro to Business (virtual), Personal Finance (virtual).
