Movement for Safe Schools – March 14

Approximately 600 students participated in the Movement for Safe Schools on March 14. Students came to the high school cafeteria at 10:00 a.m. to make a statement for safer schools and remember those who died in the school shooting in Parkland, Florida on February 14.

This student-led movement provided students with the opportunity to:

  • Obtain contact information of the federal and state legislators from our area and a sample letter of what could be sent to the legislators encouraging them to take action to make schools safer.
  • Sign a pledge card to commit to making Penn Manor High School a safer school.
  • Meet and interact with other students
  • Read a biography of each of the individuals who were killed in the Parkland, Florida shooting.

To end the movement, the names of each of the victims of the school shooting were read and a moment of silence was held to honor these individuals.
